Coach Butch Estes



Butch Estes is the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Barry University.

Entering the 2017-18 season, Estes has an overall record of 537-336, including a 363-272 mark at the four-year level as a head coach. In four seasons at Barry, Estes owns a 93-28 record with four trips to the NCAA Division II National Tournament. He is the only coach in school history to take four straight teams to the NCAA Tournament.

Coach Estes has been the head coach at several four year schools including Presbyterian College, Furman University, and Guilford College (NC). In addition to Palm Beach State, Estes has been the head coach at two other two-year schools- Miami Dade College and Shoreline Community College. As a head coach, Estes has produced a 515-318 record. He’s received 10 Coach of the Year awards in his career, collecting at least one at every stop along his well-traveled coaching journey.    He has also held assistant coaching positions at East Carolina, Rice, The Citadel, Miami, and Seattle University. .   Estes played freshman basketball at the University of North Carolina, where he later became a student assistant under Tar Heels legendary coach Dean Smith.
